Adam Lambert’s New Album Released
Adam Lambert released “The Original High”, his third studio album, today.
The singer, who turned 33 this year, said that much of what he has gone through over the past few years helped to influence the new album.
He said in an interview that he noticed “a feeling of disillusionment” in his circle of friends over the past years, and that was a big influence on the change in his music style, which has become more subdued and introspective.
He also stated that “identity isn’t so much a challenge anymore. The challenge is figuring out what I want from my life.”
The new album comes after a split with RCA Records, who had apparently put him in a creative vice grip and wouldn’t let him budge.
After the RCA breakup, he signed with Warner Bros., who were apparently happy to let Adam explore creatively as much as he needed.
He also recently completed three years of touring with Queen which, while exhilarating, may have hindered some of the creativity needed to create an entirely new album.
Famous Swedish producer Max Martin helped create the sound for the album, which takes a refreshing new direction from the onslaught of emotional bombast that has been at the forefront of much of Lambert’s career.
Martin has had an illustrious career as a producer, writing mega hit songs for the likes of Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, and Taylor Swift.
Lambert is hoping that this more grounded album can help show a different side of who he is and what he wants to do. But at the same time, Adam says “I don’t care if everyone’s going to understand what I’m singing about. It’s real to me.”
