Aldis Hodge looked dapper in a black ensemble while attending the 3rd Biennial Rebels With a Cause gala. He joined James Corden, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Kristin Chenoweth, Julianne Hough, and many other celebrities to support cancer research. “My mother is a multiple cancer survivor, so I’m here to support,” Aldis said. “I’m at this opportune moment in my life to kind of experience change and also influence change.”

When asked how stardom has changed his life, he quipped, “I would replace stardom for new found responsibility because Lord knows it is one.” Aldis added, “I’m just sitting here trying to soak it in and not get big headed.” The 29-year-old actor could easily be swept up in the limelight, but he says he’s using his celebrity as a platform to bring awareness to issues, like Rebel With a Cause, that he cares about. “It’s not power, it’s responsibility and it’s one that I have to walk with humility.”
And while the Straight Outta Compton actor is experiencing fame, he’s been conscious of the roles he chooses. He points out his fans have taught him so much about “what it means to be an artist and how affective [artists] can actually be.” In fact, he explained he loves being part of WGN America’s Underground TV series, which follows a group of slaves planning a daring escape from a Georgia plantation. Aldis Hodge said, “I’m blessed to be on a very significant, powerful show that is not just good for entertainment’s sake, but it’s good for starting the conversation for a demand for better things.”
Aldis is one dedicated actor! While attending the star-studded event to support cancer research, the 29-year-old actor admitted he was going to live tweet the season one finale of Underground, which happened to be on the same night at the gala. “It’s been a great ride and I hope fans love it.” Luckily, fans can look forward to a second season because the show was renewed by WGN.
