Anne Hathaway: There’s No Shame in Weight Gain

Anne Hathaway is not shy about her post pregnancy weight gain. On March 24, she gave birth to her adorable son, Jonathan Shulman. Now, the new mommy is making a declaration on social media that she is proud of her body.

The famous actress took to Instagram to display her fashionable denim shorts that she recently made by cutting a pair of her long jean pants. In the photo, Hathaway’s above the knee shorts were featured with scissors, a pencil, and measuring tape.  Accompanying the post, the 33-year-old actress shared an inspiring caption about her personal journey of weight loss and weight gain.

“There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever). There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all),” Anne Hathaway wrote.

Hathaway went on to say that she decided to take matters into Anne-Hathaway-Bikiniher own hands and make her own shorts, because last years just did not fit right. “There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs. Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.) Peace xx #noshame#lovewhatyouhavebeengiven.”

The Oscar-winner is not the only celebrity mom encouraging new mothers everywhere to celebrate their weight and understand that it takes time to lose it. After giving birth to her son, Chrissy Teigen shared, “You just realize you have to give yourself time and understand that you push out a baby, and it took this long to put on the weight, and it’s not going to peel right off, and that’s OK.” Also, Blake Lively referred to her post baby body by stating, “You don’t have to have be Victoria’s Secret-ready right away. You’ve just done this incredible miracle that life has to offer.” Lively continued, “You gave birth to a human being. I would really like to see that celebrated.”
