Christina Grimmie tells us about her feelings on performing for this event and the cause behind it. Oddly, she tends to get zero nerves when it comes to performing for giant crowds. How ever she explains how she does not enjoy performing in front of family and friends as much. She goes on to tell us about some of the new music she plans on dropping in the rest of 2016.
Christina Grimmie’s career is blowing-up at the moment, and it’s easy to see why. This 21-year-old New Jersey native just returned from her first European headline tour, and is preparing for a new music release (expected to drop later this fall.) Christina Grimmie is all guts and steel, and delicious high notes. She is an unstoppable force.
Christina is a digital phenomena, whose YouTube following has amassed a near 3 million subscribers world wide. You might remember her chill-inducing performance of “Wrecking Ball,” on Season 6 of NBC’s The Voice, which beckoned a four-chair turn around, and had American music alumni fighting for the chance to work with her. (If you haven’t seen it, you can watch the performance on YouTube along with the 23 million other viewers who sought it out.)
Christina was discovered on her YouTube page in 2010, when she was just 16-years old by Brian and Mandy Teefey of LH7 Management. They watched her cover video for “Party in the U.S.A,” and immediately sought to assist and cultivate her obvious talent. (The video was made 5 years ago, and currently stands at over 12 million views.)

What stood out most about Christina, was how musically enhanced she was at such a young age. Her covers were all re-composed; she had a true talent for re-working the music to make it her own.
This YouTube Cover Girl graduated from covering others’ top 40 hits, to independently releasing her first EP in 2011 titled, “Find Me.” The album debuted at number 2 on iTunes, behind Adele’s “19.” It was also number 11 on Billboard’s digital releases. Her two singles off this album, “Advice,” and “Liar, Liar,” were in heavy rotation at Radio Disney.
It was after the success of her first independent release, that Christina moved to LA to fully pursue her music career.
Following this success, Christina did a tour of the U.S and Canada, opening for Selena Gomez. During this time she also received an AMA and performed a duet with Taio Cruise at the pre-show of the 39th American Music Awards.
In 2013, Christina independently released her second album, with her team at LH7 Management. The sophomore album was titled, “With Love,” which took her on a second U.S/Canadian tour, opening for Selena Gomez once more.
She’s no stranger to television appearances either, having been on “The Ellen Show,” and “Dancing With The Stars” numerous times. She was, as mentioned, a contestant in Season 6 of NBC’s “The Voice,” and finished as a top 3 finalist on Team Adam.
Post “The Voice,” Christina released her newest single, “Cliché,” which peaked at number 7 on iTunes charts, and is currently getting radio rotation.
This ludicrously talented singer/songwriter has also recently collaborated with EDM artists on a powerhouse track titled, “Stay With Me,” which was number 3 on BeatPort.
Christina has just been announced the winner of the 2015 Macy’s Rising Star iHeartRadio competition. Her fiercely loyal fans (638k on Twitter, 368k on Instagram, 2.8 million on Facebook, and 2.9 million on YouTube) helped her beat out the other extremely talented artists. Christina will be opening this year’s 2015 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, alongside the biggest music stars in the industry.
