Before beginning his duties of Master of Ceremonies at the John Wayne Cancer Institute’s annual Odyssey Ball, J. R. Martinez stopped to talk to Vivian Adaobi about the night’s theme “We Can All Be Heroes.”
Dancing with the Stars Champion, actor, motivational speaker, and veteran J. R. Martinez is considered to be a hero by many. He spoke about what it means to be a hero and who he considers to be heroes.
J. R. Martinez garnered national attention while he competed on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars during it’s 13th season. Competing with professional dancer Karina Smirnoff, J.R. Martinez went on to win the mirror ball trophy. This year marks the ten year anniversary since the show began and J.R. Martinez spoke about its impact on his career.
Returning to the show as part of the audience, Martinez is still an avid supporter of the show. He talks about supporting friend and fellow veteran Noah Galloway who is currently competing on the 20th season of the show. Galloway is a double amputee veteran who is defying expectations each week on the show. J.R. Martinez spoke about the amazing one handed lift he witnessed Noah master in practice.
