Get ready Chicago because free agent, Dwayne Wade, is coming home! The 12 time NBA all-star finalized a two-year $47.5-Million-dollar contract with his hometown NBA team – the Chicago Bulls.
To make room in the budget for Wades large salary the Bulls traded point guard Jose Calderon to the Los Angeles Lakers. Forward Mike Dunleavy was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
An NBA professional told Yahoo Sports that Dwayne Wades decision to leave Miami Heat came after feeling he was no longer appreciated on the team. Miami Heat’s President Pat Riley said, “Compensation to a player is not just a way to get paid and to live your life. Compensation to a player is about recognition and respect and place.”
Dwayne Wade met with Miami Heat owner Micky Arison last week over talks of a new contract. The Heat wasn’t willing to re-sign Wade to a three-year contract which also led Wade to the ultimate decision of leaving Miami Heat. To commemorate Wades 13 year commitment to the team Miami Heat’s official Instagram page started a social media campaign under the hashtag #FlashbackFriday and posted 13 individual “Wade Moments” to symbolize Wade’s 13 year history with the team.
Sources say Dwayne Wade met with the Denver Nuggets who were also unwilling to sign Wade to a three-year contract. Sources say Denver offered Wade a two-year $53-million-dollar deal.
The Court of American Airlines Arena wont be the same without Wade. He began his career with Miami Heat in 2003 and won three NBA Championships with the team. Wade’s contract with the Bulls will end his 13 year playing streak with Miami Heat.
Wades will start the new basketball season on a roaster which includes Rajon Rondo, Jimmy Butler and 2016 first-round draft pick Denzel Valentine.
