EntScoop’s Cymbeline Film Review

EntScoop was invited to write a film review for Lionsgate’s new film “Cymbeline”. “Cymbeline” is a story about prisoners war about cops and an outlaw biker gang with a twist of Shakespeare. Although a great amount of respect for Shakespeare…this film in my opinion was not interesting at all. When the film first began I tried my best to seek what the was the film about. About 30 minutes into the film my mind is completely blown away that I still have no clue what this film was about. Perhaps it could have been the accents on top of the Shakespeare style script.
Although I’m really good at making sense of even some of the most difficult and subliminal writing pieces and could not seem to understand what was going on in this film. As I looked around the theater I saw several journalist asleep, one laughing hysterically (not exactly sure why) as one continued to snore behind me. After the film I must say after asking one of the journalist what they thought of the film they also said they didn’t understand it and I must say I was bit relieved because I was absolutely wondering was it just me.
However, I felt the actors in this film has done an outstanding job with delivering the emotions while also developing an accent in this film. Ed Harris performance was absolutely extraordinary, his voice, bad boy, and kick butt image has always been something that has caught audience eyes to this day. Dakota Mayi Johnson showcased strong acting abilities and seemed to have understood the need and wants of the character because although I didn’t understand the film her actions that was showcased in the film clearly shows her love and affection for the love interest in the film.
If I hate to rate the film it would have to be 2 1/2 stars out of 5. One star for the brilliant actors that brought those emotions of the character to life even while speaking in a different form of language which we all can assume must’ve been extremely challenging, another star for action and thriller that went on in the film. The wild action of violence was something I believe will keep the audience eye open.
There was guns, explosions, and lots of blood which besides sex has always been something that sells out the box office. The half of star is because I felt there was a lot of great editing when it came to those action scenes. I know there are some people out there that can comprehend Shakespeare, which if I had then perhaps my rate would have been higher. Cymbeline will be released in theaters on March 13th.
