Powerful, stunning, unexpected, inspiring. These are just some of the words used to describe Ronald Krauss’ film, “Gimme Shelter,” which had a private screening on Tuesday,January 14th, 2014 at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood.
Based on a true story, “Gimme Shelter” follows a 16 year old girl named Agnes ‘Apple” Bailey, played by Vanessa Hudgens, who flees from her mother’s toxic environment only to end up on the streets and pregnant. Her mother, played by Rosario Dawson, is a drug addict and it’s because of her ways and unhealthy relationships that Apple decides to seek shelter at her father’s home. However, Apple’s father, played by Brendan Fraser, demands that she terminate her pregnancy but Apple decides to keep her unborn child and as a result, ends up back on the streets. Determined to lead a better life, one that is opposite from her mothers, Apple finds her way to Several Sources Shelter where she not only gains clarity and hope for her future, but she also gains the family she never had.
Following the screening, cast members and their closest friends walked the red carpet and they all had nothing but positive things to say about the film and their upcoming projects.
