Seinfeld fans have long speculated the death of Susan Ross, George’s longtime on-again,off again girlfriend. The characters became engaged at the start of season 7, much to George’s chagrin. The arc continued for so long that the fans assumed they were going to be married. Then, in a major twist, she died in the season finale, poisoned by cut-rate wedding invitation envelopes bought by George. It was a pretty dark twist for the comedy, but many were okay with it because “She was Killing Independent George”.
Since then people have speculated it was because of behind-the-scenes drama, which if you know Hollywood is pretty common and today Jason Alexander finally fessed up. Check out the full clip below:
It turns out the drama was mainly true as Jason Alexander explained that he liked Heidi Swedberg a lot, but found her hard to act with and after Seinfeld had a few scenes with her she was cut from the script in what some might say was an ironic death at best.
As much as we wonder what Swedberg thinks of this, we’re pretty sure she already knew the real reason and since it’s been 20 years holds no ill will for it or at least we hope so.
