Kaitlin Doubleday, “Empire”: Red Carpet Interview
Kaitlin Doubleday, otherwise known as Rhonda Lyon from Fox’s hit new drama Empire, caught up with Entertainment Scoop at TheWRAP’s 2nd annual Emmy Celebration.
The star talked extensively about the show, as well as her thoughts on her character and what she thinks could happen for next season.
On whether or not she could tell us what might happen in Season 2:
“We sit with the writers and they tell us bullet points so I know a few things that I’m not even allowed to share, but I want to get back to work…because I have no clue.”
Kaitlin did tell us that it will be 3 months later and she will still be pregnant, and that they will still be dealing with covering up the murder, but that’s all the information she could tell us on the newest season.
When asked about her own character’s development and where she would like it to go:
“She’s going to make herself in-disposable… and I would like for her to stand on her own… and find out why she gave up her own life to be with this crazy family that doesnt like her.”
Kaitlin discussed a lot about some of the taboo subjects that Empire brings to the foreground, with issues of homophobia and gay right, as well as mental illness and interracial marriage, and she said she would like to explore more of the stuff that people don’t like to talk about.
“It’s why that was put on the show…it’s to talk about it.”
Kaitlin’s newest movie, Dragon Warriors, is due out sometime this year, while Empire returns September 23.
