Kim Kardashian makes $45 million off her video game app and says ‘Not bad for a girl with no talent.’
Kim Kardashian can add another accomplishment to her growing list: covering Forbes Magazine as a “new mobile mogul.”
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star is the magazine’s main subject, as she made about $45 million from her mobile game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. The game allows users to create their own celebrity and work their way to being an A-list celebrity, and while it seems superficial, the results Kim has seen are anything but. Th game has been downloaded 45 million times and has grossed $160 million in revenue, according to Forbes. Of that large number, Kim has pocketed $45 million. That’s still a jaw dropping number!
Even though the numbers are huge, Kim gave a humble response on Twitter about receiving the amount. “Such a tremendous honor to be on the cover of @forbes! I never dreamed this would happen & know my Dad would be proud,” she tweeted Monday.
Kim added “#NotBadForAGirlWithNoTalent,” to all the haters who have criticized her along the way. She added a heart eyed emoji and a winking emoji that is sticking its tongue out in her tweet.
Wired put together a study that revealed fans have spent a total of 30,342 years playing Kim’s super successful game earlier in July. Kim had hesitations before she dove into the gaming world even though she a passion for it while growing up.
“I loved video games, growing up,” Kim told Forbes. “I remember I asked Kanye (West), ‘Should I do this?’ He was like, ‘yes!’ That’s how he got into music, because he wanted to do music for video games and wanted to create videogames.” But Kim still had her concerns about it.
“I was like, ‘I wonder if people are going to…mimic my life.'”
When Kim came more and more involved with her game, she came up with the idea to update it close to real time, so users can purchase emojis, vacations, outfits and more for their avatars.
“I became really intrigued with he tech world. I started spending a lot of time in San Francisco,” she told Forbes. “I realized this is really going to be the next cycle of my career and this is what I want to focus on.”
Maybe this means we will be seeing more Kim Kardashian in the tech world.
