Mary J. Blige has been with “Mr. Wrong” for too long. The Grammy-award winning singer filed for divorce on Tuesday, July 26 from her manager husband, Kendu Isaacs, after 12 years of marriage, Us Weekly confirmed. TMZ broke the news, claiming the R&B singer cited irreconcilable differences and listed the date of separation as “to be determined.” The publication also noted that Mary J. Blige requested Kendu not receive spousal support, however, the document does not mention if there is a prenup.

The “Be Without You” singer married her manager in December 2003. Although Kendu has three children form a previous relationship, him and Mary J. Blige don’t have any kids together. “Ms. Blige is saddened to say it is true that she has filed for divorce saying sometimes things don’t work out how we hoped they would… but, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything,” The R&B singer’s rep told TMZ.
After news broke about her marriage, the singer deleted all of her Instagram photos. However, the singer’s rep explains the Grammy winner will continue making music. “Mary will continue writing and working on her album which is due out later this year along with her world tour. She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time,” her rep said. It’s important to note that the 45-year-old singer spoke about the “challenges” of her relationship in an interview with UK’s Telegraph back in 2014.
“He always has my back – he’s going to fight to the death for Mary J. Blige. The downside is that there’s no separation – it’s on all the time.” She added, “When you don’t feel like answering to your manager, he’s still your husband. If one of you doesn’t want to talk about something right now, you have to respect that. And you have to respect each other’s space.”
