It is the day after the Miss Universe disaster and the world is still buzzing about it. If you live under a rock Steve Harvey(the host of the show) announced the wrong winner last night. Miss Columbia was crowned Miss Universe for 2 minutes and 31 seconds before having that crown snatched from her head and given to Miss Philippines. Talk about a heart break. Thats like getting the greatest Christmas present ever only to have mom tell you she labeled it wrong and it’s actually not for you. Take that and times it by a thousand just to get an idea of what Ariadna Gutierrez(Miss Columbia) is feeling right now.
Steve Harvey apologized immediately after making the mistake and continued to apologize later using social media. He took to Twitter and tweeted “I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Columbia and Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.” He then tweeted again saying “Secondly, I’d like to apologize to the viewers that I disappointed as well. Again it was an honest mistake.”
With comedy gold like this all the jokesters got to work blasting the internet with hilarious memes roasting the host. Apologize or not I don’t think Steve Harvey will ever be able to live this one down.
Also me being a skeptic of the entertainment industry I can’t help but think this was planned. Only 6.2 million people tuned in to watch the pageant last night which was a 19% decrease from last year. After the Steve Harvey mishap social media blew up. Everybody was talking about Miss Universe. #MissUniverse2015 was the most popular hashtag of the night. Just something to think about.
