Misty Copeland talks to Entertainment Scoop’s Eve Anthony on the red carpet at this year the music centre hosted the annual summer soiree in Los Angeles. This year the event paid tribute to Artist Rita Moreno who has spent decades providing joy to the entertainment industry. Celebrities and fans alike attended the event.

Copeland who on June 30th 2015 became the first black female principle dancer with the American ballet theatre in the company’s 75 year history. Misty Copeland overcame extreme difficulties throughout her childhood and at one point had her mother and ballet teachers who were serving as her custodial guardians fighting a custody battle over her.
Misty was not only in attendance due to her love and appreciation of Rita Moreno but also scheduled to perform a special benefit performance of Alexi Ratmansky’s “Firebird” alongside her American Ballet Theatre colleague Stella Abrera. Misty stopped by host Eve Anthony to discuss her love of Rita Moreno’s work, how she believes Rita has inspired so many generations and why she was so happy to be a part of Moreno’s special night.
Misty also shared with us her secrets about how she prepares for a performance and what it feels like to have so many people look up to her. She spoke of her excitement at being able to perform “Firebird” for such a prestigious audience. Misty also labelled as an inspiration to many due to the boundaries she continues to break within the dance industry.
Copeland has also written two autobiographical books, as well as narrated a documentary named ‘ A Ballerina’s Tale’ about her career challenges, she is deemed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME magazine. In May 2016, Copeland was honoured as Barbie produced The Misty Copeland Barbie doll and has recently signed on to Disney’s adaptation of “Nutcracker”.
