Renee Zellweger is back from her six-year hiatus and ready to take on Hollywood again. The superb actress will star in the highly anticipated return of Bridget Jones in Bridget’s Jones’s Baby.
While on her relaxing hiatus, the Oscar winning actress retreated to her beautiful farm in Connecticut and relaxed by the shore at her beach house in the Hamptons. Renee Zellweger also spent some of her free time home in Santa Barbara. The Bridget Jones’s Diary star even took on a new venture and enrolled in screenwriting courses at UCLA. As a student, she co-wrote a pilot with one of her professors. The pilot was a hit and Lifetime network picked it up.
The hiatus was seen as a time of personal growth for Zellweger, “I wanted to grow,” she explained to the magazine. “If you don’t explore other things, you wake up 20 years later and you’re still that same person who only learns anything when she goes out to research a character. You need to grow!”
Recently, speculation arose that Zellweger received plastic surgery after she made a red carpet appearance in 2014. She responded to the rumors by telling People magazine that she hadn’t gone under the knife.
The actress went on to express her views towards aging as a woman in Hollywood. “I’ve never seen the maturation of a woman as a negative thing,” expressed Zellweger. “I’ve never seen a woman stepping into her more powerful self as a negative.” The 47-year-old actress took another stance on the issue. “But this conversation perpetuates the problem. Why are we talking about how women look? Why do we value beauty over contribution? We don’t seem to value beauty over contribution for men. It’s simply not a conversation.”
You can catch Renee Zellweger in Bridget Jones’s Baby. The movie will hit theaters on September 12.
