Tonight on the NFL Network is Rex Ryan’s much anticipated return to The Meadowlands as his Bills team will face off against his former team the New York Jets.
Rex has had the media buzzing all week starting Monday when he announced Ik Enemkpali a captain for tonights game. Yes this is the same Ik Enemkpali who was cut from the Jets for punching quarterback and teammate Geno Smith in the face and breaking his jaw over a 600 dollar dispute. This is classic Rex Ryan who is notorious for stirring up controversy with opposing teams.
Jets safety Calvin Pryor tweeted “The guy will do anything for attention” referring to Rex Ryan’s decision to publicly announce that Ik Enemkpali will be a captain. When asked about it Pryor said “It was defiantly kind of disrespectful, but at the same time, he has his reasons. If you’re going to make him captain, just make him a captain. You don’t have to announce it on Monday for the whole world to know.”
Pryor then went on to say “Good defensive coach, definitely got a sense of humor, funny guy. He’s a good person.” He was then asked if Rex was a good coach to which he replied “No comment on that.”
Ryan defended his decision to make Ik Enemkpali a captain by saying “It’s not a slap in anybody’s face. It’s not a sign of disrespect.” Slap in the face. See what he did there?
Rex Ryan added more fuel to the fire criticizing Pryor’s 2014 draft class and calling out Jets starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick saying “Right now, the thing thats disappointing to me is that beard. He’s not a real handsome kid.” Fitzpatrick fired back by saying “That’s alright. I got 5 kids, so something is working.” Well played sir.
In the NFL you have a game a week but we would like to thank Rex Ryan for keeping us entertained the other 6 days. Hopefully the game can live up to all the hype.
