“Weird Al” Yankovic Interview

Weird Al talked to Entertainment Scoop at the 8th Annual Producers and Engineer Wing in West, Los Angeles.

When the super bowl performer was announced as Katy Perry in 2014 a petition was circulated for the NFL to have Weird Al as the performer instead. When Al was asked about it he said he would have loved to perform if the request was granted.

If they would have asked, of course I would have done it but I have a feeling I’ll never be on the NFL short list.

Al, who was just nominated for a Grammy under the “Best Comedy” award for his Mandatory Fun album explained that he was at home anxiously awaiting the nomination announcements when he found out.

“This sounds very nerdy but I was on my lap-top refreshing grammy.com until the nominations came up and then I was like yay.”

Al’s Mandatory World Tour kicks off in May of this year. He said it would be a 5 month tour with a lot of costume changes, props, a high energy rock band, and surprises. The tour will feature songs from his new album in addition to his greatest hits.

“It’s gonna be like all my other tours but bigger and better” said Al. “We’re gonna give people their money’s worth.”
