2020 Golden Globes Wrap-Up

By: Jasmine Escareno

The 2020 Golden Globes took place this past Sunday  on January 5th at the Beverly Hilton. Entertainment Scoop has the scoop on all the winners!

There were some memorable moments during this year’s Golden Globes. From the laughter on the red carpet to the presentations and speeches (Ricky Gervais speech had us shook). Tom Hanks got visibly emotional as he accepted the Cecil B DeMille award for his impact on the industry. Who can forget his depiction in Forrest Gump? Or his character as Sheriff Woody in Toy Story? In his speech he reminisced about his start in the industry as a festival intern. He went on to explain the filmmaking process and the lessons he learned to become a great actor, namely bringing great ideas and showing up on time. He deserved this award and even choked up saying, “It’s the cold that is making this happen. I swear to God, I’m not nearly this emotional at home.” Yes, Tom Hanks, let out all the emotion. After  many years spent working on films, you deserve it.

Ellen Degeneres. If you don’t know this name, you might be living under a rock. She has done tremendous work over the decades as well as paving the way for the LGBTQ community. She was honored to accept the HFPA’s Carol Burnett Award, which recognizes achievements in television. Like always, she does make her jokes, but on a serious note, she does acknowledge her award and remarks how she only wants to make people laugh and feel good about themselves.
