Actor Sean Connery dies at the age of 90. Sean Connery was a Scottish actor. His portrayal of the original James Bond shot him into stardom in 1962. He was the first actor to play James Bond on the big screen in Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and Diamonds are Forever. Many people believe that he was the best actor to ever play James Bond.
When he introduced himself as “Bond, James Bond,” he embodied the British spy perfectly. Originally, the writer of the spy novels did not think that Sean Connery would be the best actor to play James Bond. Dr. No is still an iconic movie to this day.
Sean Connery Died Peacefully In His Sleep
Connery passed away in his sleep either late Saturday night or early Saturday morning. His death has been confirmed by his family who were with him in the Bahamas at the time of his passing. Sean Connery is survived by his wife, Micheline Roquebrune. The two were married for 45 years. Sean’s son, Jason Connery said that his father died peacefully after “having been unwell for a long time.”
The 90 year old actor died after a very fulfilling Hollywood career. Not only did he play the heartthrob James Bond, he went on to star in many other films.
In 1989, Connery even won the People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” honor at the age of 59.
In 2000, Sir Sean Connery was awarded knighthood by the Scottish Government thanks to his support of Scottish independence.

Today, Hollywood stars are mourning the loss of Sean Connery. Hugh Jackman Tweeted, “I grew up idolizing Sean Connery. A legend on screen, and off.”
Spike Lee posted a commemorative post to his Instagram stating, “No Disrespect To The Other Actors Who Later Played 007 ,But To Me Sean Is My Guy.”
