21 Jan Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ Has Been Renewed for a Second Season
Dear reader, the ton has some great news to share today. “Bridgerton,” Netflix’s steamy 1800’s period series, has been renewed for a second season.
With rating like those, Netflix had no choice but to continue this fictional tale. The series had one of Netflix’s most watched series premieres. It also included some of the most beloved characters in television history.
Breaking the News to Fans
Lady Whistledown released a pamphlet with the good news on the “Bridgerton” Instagram account.
The Shondaland series, which is based on the romance novels by Julia Quinn, follows the Bridgerton family as the siblings seek to navigate London’s cutthroat marriage market.
Season two will be filmed in the UK starting this spring. All of the characters are said to be making a return, but some will likely have less involved storylines.
All About the Viscount
Season one of “Bridgerton” left viewers with a perfectly wrapped up story. Daphne and the the Duke of Hastings, played by Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page, have surpassed large hurdles in their marriage and given birth to a son after a tumultuous courting season.
The end of the season teased that the plot of season two will center around Anthony’s search for love like in Julia Quinn’s book, “The Viscount Who Loved Me.”
In the novel he has a romance with new character, Kate Sheffield. At the end of season one, Anthony tells Daphne and Simon that he plans on, “finding and promptly declaring my intentions to my new viscountess.”
A Plan to ‘Dominate the Social Season’
In the news release, Lady Whistledown teased that Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, “intends to dominate the social season.” Of course she’ll be ready to “report on any and all of his romantic activities.”
Anthony was left at a sort of crossroads in the show after his heartbreaking breakup with the opera singer Siena. He has had to choose between love and fulfilling his family duties as the eldest son. Although he said that he will be taking love out of the marriage equation, that is rarely how these things work out.
The Viscount had some pretty steamy sex scenes in the first season of “Bridgerton,” but perhaps this season he will find a wife in the proper way of the time period, through courting and promenading. Either way, the show is sure to once again be very grand and aesthetically pleasing.
