Caitlyn Jenner Considers Running for Governor of California

From Olympic star to California Governor, Caitlyn Jenner is “actively exploring” the idea of running for governor of California. The “economically conservative, socially progressive” celebrity is looking to take on the political world.

The 71-year-old has been a known Republican and has publicly supported 45th President Donald Trump. Currently, Jenner is working for LBGTQ+ rights and advocacy.

Preparing For Politics

Caroline Wren is assisting Jenner in her attempt to pursue politics. Wren worked at Trump Victory during President Trump’s 2020 campaign fundraising. While Jenner is new to the political circle, she has been vocal about her political views in the past.

In February, Jenner’s manager, Sophia Hutchins denied rumors about Jenner’s interest in being a candidate. Hutchins stated that Jenner is more focused on family and LGBTQ+ rights advocacy.

“She has never considered running for governor and is very happy doing the work that she is doing to promote LGBT rights and spending time with her 18 grandchildren and 10 children,” said Hutchins.

Now though, Axios reports Jenner is “actively meeting” with GOP advisers, in an attempt to defeat Governor Gavin Newsom.

Not Republican, Not Democrat

Since 2018, Jenner has publicly spoken out about her past political views. In an interview with the Washington Post, she retracted her support for President Trump. Today, she doesn’t identify as a Republican, but as “economically conservative, socially progressive.”

This isn’t the first time Jenner has considered a position in politics. In 2017, Jenner had interest in running for California Senate, saying, “I like the political side of it.”

While the idea of Jenner being the governor of California seems like a long shot, there has been criticism for the way Newsom has handled the pandemic in California. Jenner will be competing against former U.S. representative Doug Ose, and former San Diego mayor Kevin Faulconer.

This news comes out as the final season of “KUWTK” is airing. After 20 seasons, the iconic reality show that follows the Kardashian-Jenner clan is over. Jenner left the show in 2077 after its 13th season.
