DaBaby Addresses ‘Diss’ Drama With Jojo Siwa

DaBaby sets the records straight after being accused of  “dissing” Jojo Siwa in his new song,  After facing a lot of online backlash, DaBaby states that his alleged diss towards Siwa was just “wordplay.” 

The Grammy-nominated rapper, DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, name dropped Siwa in his new song “Beatbox Freestyle.” 

The Lyrics

“You a b—- / Jojo Siwa, b—- ,” the 29-year-old raps while holding a picture of Siwa smiling. 

Siwa, the 17-year-old singer, dancer and Internet personality has had recent media attention after coming out through a viral TikTok. Siwa got her start on the show “Dance Moms”, and later gained popularity online for her wacky personality and fashion sense. 

Siwa came out while singing along to “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga and posted a photo wearing a shirt that says, “Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever.” on her Twitter. Siwa has since shared the news of her happy relationship with her girlfriend during an interview with Jimmy Fallon. 

What Fans Are Saying

DaBaby’s rap has brought a lot of attention to both DaBaby and Siwa on Twitter and Youtube. While some fans were confused and trying to figure out where this fued came from, others were defending DaBaby for his lyrics choices. 

“Is there some jojo siwa dababy beef i don’t know about?” a fan tweeted. 

“Just when you thought life couldn’t get any weirder, Dababy disses Jojo Siwa,” another fan stated. 

“He wasn’t throwing shade at Jojo…it clearly shows that he was using her last name as in ‘see why’ instead of ‘Siwa’,” a fan said in his defense. 

DaBaby Reaches Out

The rapper has not made a formal statement, but has been responding to the backlash on social media. He states that the line wasn’t intended to be a diss and he was just using her name as a “play on words.” 

“😂😂😂😂 I love Twitter bruh,” he tweeted. “I ‘Siwa’ I’m not like the rest of you n—–.”

“@itsjojosiwa my 3 year old princess is your number 1 fan. I bought her every product you have out. She think she you. 😂 Don’t let em trick you into thinking id ever have a problem with you. My word play just went over their heads. All love on my end shawty, Keep shinning!” he wrote to Siwa.

DaBaby also shared on his Instagram story that there is no beef between to two and he has no problem with Siwa. 

“Y’all MFs sick lol. Y’all ok w/ that child being tricked into thinking I got a problem with her, WE F— WIT YOU JOJO,” he said on Instagram. 

While Jojo has not made a public statement about the rap, she did like a tweet that changed the lyrics from “Jojo Siwa, b****” to “boss b****.”
