08 Jan Demi Lovato Shares She Is Using Her Voice For Change
Demi Lovato is channeling her anger and making ‘something special’ after the events at the United States Capitol. The singer tweeted about the riots at the Capitol building, inspiring her to address the violence through song.
The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer wrote, “My heart is broken. It makes me to sad to believe how naïve I was to think this couldn’t possibly happen, and yet it did. Here we are. For everyone in my comments saying ‘where’s d7’ or wanting me to sing instead of speaking up about what needs to change in this country. THIS IS WHY I POST AS MUCH AS I DO. THIS IS WHY I CARE. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN ANY F–KING MORE. I’m angry, embarrassed and ashamed.”
The singer announced that she is working on a special project to address the violence that occurred. While she did not give any additional details or tell us what to expect from the new music, it’s very exciting for Demi and her fans. With that announcement, her name began trending on Twitter.
“You are absolutely right to use your voice. Keep doing it, it’s more important than ever ❤️👊🏻,” a fan said in support of Demi on Instagram.
Demi has a history of being outspoken and opinioned on social media. She recently called out influencers and celebrities who are traveling and partying despite the pandemic with a meme and the caption, “Just curious, what the f–k are y’all doing?”
After releasing the song, she faced some backlash and but defended her efforts with the song. Her fans worried that this release could ruin her career but Demi assured the fans that she has a right to share her feelings.
“You do understand as a celebrity, I have a right to political views as well? Or did you forget that we aren’t just around to entertain people for our entire lives.. that we are citizens of the same country and we are humans with opinions as well?,” Demi stated.
“The difference between me and the type of artist you WANT and EXPECT me to be, (but I’m sorry honey that will never BE me 😂) I literally don’t care if this ruins my career,” she furthered. “This isn’t about that. My career isn’t about that. I made a piece of art that stands for something I believe in. And I’m putting it out even at the risk of losing fans.”
One thing about Demi is that she’s always going to speak up for what she believes in! What are your thoughts on this? Drop a comment below and let us know!
