Dinner Is Served: Chicken Tikka Masala

Today on Dinner Is Served we are going to try something that I have personally never had. I am so excited to make some chicken tikka masala with you guys! My palette used to be pretty basic until a couple years ago so I am still playing catch up on a bunch of different cuisines. It’s never too late to try new things though! 

So let’s get stared! 

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of butter 
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 pound of chicken, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger root, grated
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons  of turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon of garam masala
  • 2 yellow onions, diced
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of salt
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes
  • Naan bread
  • 1/2 a cup of sour cream
 

Ingredients For The Rice

  • 1 1/4 cups of water 
  • One cup of basmati rice
  • 1 teaspoon of butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
 

Steps

  1. Add all the ingredients, excluding the sour cream, rice, cilantro and naan to a slow cooker and cook for about 3 hours. 
  2. Remove the lid and stir in the sour cream. Add rice into large bowls and top it with the chicken mixture, then garnish with the cilantro and serve with the naan. 
 

Steps For The Rice

  1. Simply add all the ingredients into a rice cooker. 

This is a fairly simple recipe but it does take a while to cook so that you can get the flavors right! Check out our last Dinner Is Served where we make some delicious brownies!
