Fans Think Taylor Swift’s ‘It’s Time To Go’ Is About Ex-BFF Karlie Kloss!

Swifties have a theory about Taylor Swift’s newest released bonus track, “it’s time to go,” and it involves her former BFF, Karlie Kloss!

The Bonus Track

Swift officially released the bonus tracks of her latest album, Evermore,” on January 7, 2021, “right where you left me,” and “it’s time to go” after the two songs had only been shared with fans who purchased the physical album since its release.

One track in particular caught the attention of fans. While both tracks follow the fictitious trend of all the songs on “Evermore,” there are some lines in “it’s time to go” that feel too autobiographical to not be true!

Lyrical Evidence

Swift is no stranger to boldly revealing intimate details about her life in her lyrics, but these lines in particular are particularly brutal, and fans believe they are in direct reference to the rumored falling out between Swift and Kloss.

“When the words of a sister come back in whispers / That prove she was not, in fact, what she seemed,” Swift sings in the first verse. “Not a twin from your dreams / She’s a crook who was caught.”

The Dynamic Duo

Kloss befriended Swift after the popstar admitted she’d like to bake cookies with Kloss during an interview for a Vogue cover story in 2012. The following year, the two shared the runway together at the annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Kloss eventually landed a starring role in Swift’s girl squad, and in 2015, the two besties shared the cover of Vogue.

“People had been telling us for years we needed to meet,” Swift recalled at the time. “I remember makeup artists and hair people going, ‘Doesn’t she remind you of Karlie? God, she and Karlie would be best friends. They’re the same.’”

The Fallout

Rumors of a rift in the dynamic duo’s friendship inevitably sprung up online and in the media, which Kloss vehemently denied, while Swift remained conspicuously silent.

“Don’t believe everything you read,” Kloss told the New York Times in March of 2018. Later insisting to Vogue that her and Swift were still, “Really good friends.”

Swift was then noticeably absent from not one but two of Kloss’ wedding ceremonies to husband Joshua Kushner, after writing in her essay “30 Things I Learned Before Turning 30,” that sometimes when you grow, “you outgrow relationships.”

Katy Perry and Scooter Braun were both in attendance at Kloss and Kushner’s second ceremony. Kloss notably did not speak out in defense of Taylor when she feuded with Braun after he purchased the rights to her masters without her consent or knowledge back in 2019. Kloss continues to work with Braun as her manager.
