Our Favorite Part Of Award Show Season: Gifting Suites
By Grace Bain & Gigi Manukyan
Award show season has officially come to a close. While receiving an award is the greatest prestige for nominees, the award ceremony is only one part of the season. There are many events leading up to an in-between award shows that the average person may not know about. There are pre-award show parties, after parties, viewing parties, nominee luncheons, and—our personal favorite—gifting suites. Gifting suites allow brands access to celebrities, who in turn, take photos with said products and brand owners. For brands, this an excellent form of exposure, while for celebrities, this is a great access to potential brand deals—more importantly, free products.
From Caribbean getaways to CBD-infused beauty products, gifting suites showcase only the best of the best of luxury. The total cost of can run up to around six figures worth of free trips, skincare, jewelry, etc. Luckily for us at Entertainment Scoop, we were able to attend three such gifting suites leading up to the Oscars, including Doris Bergman’s Valentine Romance Oscar® Luxury Lounge & Party, the GBK Productions Annual Pre-Oscars Celebrity Gifting Lounge, and the Nathalie Dubois DPA Gifting Lounge. As these are not open to the general public, we’re going to share the scoop on what really happens at these these star-studded private events.
The first one we attended was the GBK Productions Annual Pre-Oscars Celebrity Gifting Lounge, held on Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th. Held at rooftop of the Kimpton La Peer Hotel in West Hollywood, celebrities were given around $60,000 worth of gifts, including PFB Skincare, Dapper and Dashing tuxedoes, Parasuco denim, a stay at Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos via Swanky Retreats, a stay at Fit Farm, a stay at The Mansion Bali, and a stay at Raiwasa Award-winning Private Retreat in Fiji.

It was a beautiful sunny day in SoCal, setting the mood for the partly outdoor event. Aside from the luxurious brands in attendance, there was also a cat rescue raising awareness for adoption. GBK Productions always aligns with various charities and this year’s event Global Green and Stray Cat Alliance were onsite to chat with the celebrities attending.
The second gifting suite we attended was the Valentine Romance Oscar® Luxury Lounge & Party. Doris Bergman held her 11th Annual Pre-Oscar Style Lounge and Party on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Fig & Olive to celebrate the 92nd Academy Awards. Hosted by BeautyStat Cosmetics and presented by Buywine.com & Precious Vodka, the event provided a variety of gifts to over 100 celebrities and industry leaders, including actors in Oscar-nominated films such as Bruce Dern (“Once Upon A Time in Hollywood”) and Sean Carrigan (“Ford vs. Ferrari”), as well as Anthony Anderson, Judd Nelson, Dee Wallace, Diedre Hall, Norman Nixon, and Lotte Verbeek. Presenting Sponsor, Buywine.com, featured Campos Family Vineyards, a boutique Winery overlooking beautiful Mount Diablo. Their fine selection of Wines range from Sparkling Rose, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Red Blends, Cabernet Franc, Barbera, Mourverde, Petite Sirah to Cabernet and a few more secret Wines.

This gifting suite was held in doors, and featured more brand owners than GBK. The event featured a variety of items for purchase, including couture gowns, active wear, hand-rolled cigars, fragrance, vegan leather bags, skin & hair care products, CBD products, and more. Guests and other sponsors could make donations for young adults for a Post-Holiday Gift drive, which benefits ‘Wednesday’s Child,’ a weekly segment of KTTV FOX 11 News, Los Angeles. The program supports the 35,000 children in LA County in need of adoptive families. Learn more about the cause here.

Bergman also invited foster children to join in on the event to support the cause and for the children to experience the celebrity/VIP lifestyle.
We ended the gifting suite season at the Nathalie Dubois DPA Gifting Lounge. DPA hosted its famous pre-Oscars luxury gifting lounge at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel, tucked away right off the freeway. This particular suite is very international with brands coming from countries such as Japan, Canada, Finland, France, Switzerland, etc. Notable brands included HAAS Wellness Center, Euglena Skincare, Sparti Scents, The Honey Hive, Madame Nadine, and Sakury Cosmeceutical. The most unique was Deafmetal®, an
award-winning jewelry innovation for hearing aid users. Deafmetal transforms hearing aids into personalized and designer jewelry.
This gifting suite was quite unique as there was a pet psychic, a tarot card reader, and a reiki specialist entertaining guests throughout the event.
To summarize, gifting suites follow the same format: Brands advertise and pass out free goodies to attending celebrities and journalists in return for exposure. Most gifting suites will provide food and alcohol, and donate some proceeds to charity at the end of the event. Overall, gifting suites are a fun, relaxing getaway from the chaos of award show season.
