‘Friends’ Reunion Special to Begin Filming for HBO Max

The one where they reunite after 17 years! It is finally happening! The “Friends” reunion is to begin filming this week, after being delayed because of the pandemic.

The reunion will include the complete original cast, and premier on HBO Max later this year.

Filming and Delays

According to Deadline, the reunion special is to begin filming in Los Angeles. Series stars Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry are all returning to their original roles.

The reunion will be directed by Ben Winston, who was the executive producer of the latest Grammy awards.

The reunion special was announced back in February 2020, and was scheduled to be released with the debut of the WarnerMedia streaming service in May 2020. However, due to the pandemic, the special was delayed until late 2020.

With hopes of filming at the end of summer 2020, the cast and crew had hopes of filming at the end of summer 2020, but did not expect the delay to last this long.

“At first we thought, shows will be delayed for a month or two at the most, now it seems like it’s going to be far longer than that,” WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer Chairman Bob Greenblatt stated.

“We do think there’s a value to having a big, raucous live audience to experience these six great friends coming back together and we didn’t want to just suddenly do it on a web call with, you know, six squares and people shooting from their kitchens and bedrooms,” he continued.

Ready to Go

Once again, the show was delayed in August 2020 and was expected to start up in early 2021. Well, now that we’re here in early 2021, we are finally getting the reunion!

After 263 episodes, and 10 season between 1994 and 2004, fans will finally see the whole “Friends” gang back together doing what they do best.

Social media has been buzzing ever since news dropped that the iconic comedy was finally going to film.

“Friends reunion will start shooting next week and thats the second best news to be excited for these days after ramadan,” one fan tweeted

Another fan tweeted that their “six favorite people are returning to Warner bros,”

It’s safe to say we’re all excited for this reunion! We can’t wait to see what they’re up to in 2021!
