17 May ‘Friends’ Reunion Teaser and Special Guests Revealed
This not a drill! A small teaser for the long-awaited “Friends” reunion has dropped, as did the star-studded guest list.
Could this be any better?
The slo-mo video showed the beloved cast — Jennifer Anniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer — walking arm-in-arm into the distance as remix of the theme song plays.
The special, titled “The One Where They Get Back Together”, is set to premiere on May 27, on HBO Max.
For the reunion, the crew returned to the original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank. The special was filmed almost exclusively here, and by the fountain where the original title sequence was shot.
Original executive producers, Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, joined director Ben Winston to produce this reunion.
Returning Guest Stars
Not only is the entire main cast back, a number of memorable guest stars will also be returning.
This includes Maggie Wheeler a.k.a. the screechy Janice, and James Michael Tyler a.k.a. Rachel’s biggest fan Gunther. Christina Pickles and Elliot Gould a.k.a. the Geller parents, Tom Selleck a.k.a. Dr Richard Burke, and Larry Hankin a.k.a. Mr.Heckles are also returning.
That’s not all, Reese Witherspoon will be reprising her role as Rachel’s spoiled little sister, Jill Greene.
But, “Friends” fans who may be hoping for new episodes starring these familiar faces may be a little disappointed. None of the cast members will be playing their characters for the reunion. Instead, they’ll be appearing as themselves.
New Guest Stars
Despite that, the reunion promises to be just as exciting as the original 10 seasons. It will feature a wide variety of celebrities who are fans of the sitcom. This ranges from soccer legend David Beckham, to Nobel-Prize winning activist Malala Yousafzai.
Pumped for the reunion? So are we!
