George Clooney Explains His Toddlers Now Speak Fluent Italian

George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, are parents of two three-year-olds, Alexander and Ella. While on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Clooney joked that he regrets his children being fluently bilingual as they’ve ‘armed them with a language.’

“We did a really dumb thing, which is, they speak fluent Italian. I mean fluent Italian at three. But I don’t speak Italian, my wife, doesn’t speak Italian, so we’ve armed them with a language,” said Clooney.

Showing Off Their Skills

As the “Oceans 13″ actor was mid-interview with GQ for his cover as the magazine’s 2020 Icon of the Year, his son, Alexander interrupted the interview and showed off his bilingual skills.

When asked to say something in Italian, Alexander responded, “Molto caldo,” which translates to “very hot.”  It’s fair to say that working from home is an adjustment for all of us, even the movie stars

Over quarantine, Clooney has been wood-staining the family’s house which has allowed him to be “out of the room with the kids speaking Italian,” he added. “I’ll say, ‘Go back in and clean your room,’ and they’ll be like, ‘Eh papa stranzo.’ I’m from Kentucky, English is a second language to me.”

A Grateful Father

Clooney reflects on how grateful he is for the twins despite his struggles with being an older father. “There are times where [the kids] say, ‘OK, now we are going to hop like a frog all the way to bed,’ and I am like, ‘I will hop a few, I don’t know if I can go all of the way to the bedroom,” said Clooney, according to ET.

However, Clooney stated that he was ‘so glad’ when he found out him and Amal were having twins in 2017, according to US Weekly.

The Surprise of Twins

“I was up for one, you know? Because I’m old. All of a sudden it’s, like, two? You know, it’s hard to get me to not talk. And I just stood for, like, 10 minutes, just staring at this piece of paper going, ‘Two’ silently,” said Clooney.

He describes the toddlers as ‘knuckleheads’ but explains that while having twins was a surprise, it is very fulfilling and fun, according to US Weekly.

While Clooney might not be that young dreamy actor from the 90s we remember, we love to see him being a father and are so happy for their family.
