Hairstyles For Your Virtual Prom

The pandemic has made a lot of things different this year, especially for younger people.

Traditional proms, graduations and school are changing with the times as the pandemic forces us all to adapt.

We’ll go through some prom hairstyles for your virtual prom that are easy to do yourself, or with the help of a sibling or parent.

Fishtail Braid

Start out with loosely curled hair, grab a section of hair on one side of your head and twist the strands. Do the same on the other side of your head. Join the two strands in the middle and fishtail.(To fishtail: Divide hair into 2 sections. Take a thin strand from the left section. Gather it from the outside. Pull the strand up and across the left section and move it towards the right section. Tuck the strand under the right section. Tug gently on the 2 sections to tighten them. Take a thin strand from the outside of the right section. Pull the strand up and across the right section to the left section. Tuck the strand under the left section. Keep alternating until you reach the end of the braid.) Finish the braid with a clear elastic. Pull the braid apart gently to create more volume and a bohemian vibe.

Ponytail

Blow dry hair with a round brush. Separate into the top half and bottom half. Spray dry shampoo on the top half of hair focusing on the roots. If you prefer more volume, tease hair before gathering in a ponytail. If your hair has trouble holding curls, curl a few strands with a curling rod. For a more polished look, take a 1 inch section from the ponytail and wrap that strand around the base of the ponytail, securing with a bobby pin underneath the ponytail.

Half-Up/Half-Down

Let out your inner Ariana Grande- diva with this last hairstyle. Gather your hair in a half up half down hairstyle, using a hairbrush to get the hair taut in a ponytail. If you like curls in your hair add them now. Spray hairspray on a toothbrush that you don’t use to brush your teeth (I always save the ones from the dentist) and tame any flyaways. Wrap a 1 inch section from the ponytail around the base of the ponytail, securing with a bobby pin underneath the ponytail. If you want to go for a more edgy look, brad a section of your hair and attach these hair charms, or these.
