Jennifer Lopez Celebrates 20th Anniversay of ‘J.Lo’ – A Look at Her Incredible Career

Twenty years later and Jennifer Lopez is still killing it. The 51-year-old singer, dancer and actress is celebrating an iconic 20 years since the release of her second album, “J.Lo.”

Starting on the Big Screen

Lopez got her start in the entertainment business when  she landed the role of Selena, in the film “Selena,” where she portrayed the iconic Latina singer. 

After landing that role, she got her start and landed a role alongside George Clooney in “Out of Sight.” 

Her First Album

In 1999, J.Lo released her first album, On the 6,” and later made some noise at the 2000’s Grammy Awards where she was nominated for her song Waiting for Tonight.”

Like the trendsetter she is, she created a headlines with her lowcut green Versace dress. 

In 2003, J.Lo won her first music award for Favorite Pop/Rock Artist at the American Music Awards. 

An Ever Evolving Icon

In 2011, Jenny From The Block made her comeback and got involved with multiple projects. The star became a judge on American Idol with Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. 

She also released her album, “Love?” This album featured the single On the Floor which rocked the charts and put her back on the map. 

After her early 2000’s rom-com acting streak, she took a break from acting and focused more on her music. In 2015, she rekindled her acting career and starred in “The Boy Next Door,” one of her most successful roles. 

Paying homage to her love for a big performance, Lopez enjoyed a Las Vegas Residency and performed a huge show filled with her iconic dance and performance skills. 

From 2016 to 2018, this show made over $100 million from 120 shows, putting her in the top ten biggest Las Vegas residencies ever. 

In 2019 Lopez was still rocking the stage on tour. Her tour, “It’s My Party: The Live Celebration” continued to show off her amazing talent at the same time. She also played a stripper in the 2019 film “Hustlers.” 

A Super Bowl Performance Like No Other

In 2020, Lopez and Shakira stole the show at Super Bowl LIV. Their halftime performance was a sexy and energetic performance filled with nostalgia from their 2000’s smash hits.

They both brought their A-game in amazing bedazzled outfits as usual. 

Celebrating 20 Years of ‘J.Lo’

As of now, J.Lo and her fiancé, Alex Rodriquez, are waiting for COVID-19 to pass so they can finally tie the knot.

Lopez also gave an amazing performance of “This Land Is Your Land” and “America the Beautiful” at the 46th Presidential Inauguration.

In honor of her 20 year anniversary, Lopez is recreating the 2001 music video for Love Don’t Cost a Thing.” She posted a clip of her remake on Instagram and thanked her fans for their support the past two decades. 

“Happy 20th Anniversary to my 2nd album J.Lo!!!! Had a little fun at a recent shoot 😎,” Lopez captioned the playful clip, adding hashtags including “#Throwback,” “#LoveDontCostAThing,” “#JLO20thAnniversary” and “#LoveDontCostAThingChallenge,” she captioned the post. 

Jennifer Lopez is the textbook definition of a triple threat. Not only does she sing and act, but she can dance like no one else. Lopez was the “it” girl in the 2000’s and is still iconic today. She continues to amaze us at every performance and always keeps us on our toes to see that she’s dominating next. Congratulations to J.Lo on an amazing 20 years!
