Kanye West Announces New Album ‘DONDA’ Dropping Friday

Yeezy fans get excited! Kanye West announced his highly anticipated new album, “DONDA,” will be dropping this Friday!

This was confirmed in a commercial that aired during Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

“DONDA” is the rapper’s tenth studio album and is named after his late mother, Donda West, who died in 2007.

The album has reportedly been in the works for the past year and features artists like Lil Baby, Pusha T, Travis Scott and Baby Keem.

This is West’s first album since 2019 gospel records, “Jesus Is King” and “Jesus Is Born,” which scored him a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.

In the Beats Studio Buds advertisement, athlete Sha’Carri Richardson is shown preparing for a sprint with the phrase “Live Your Truth” displayed at the end of the video.

The ad, edited by West himself, features his new track, “No Child Left Behind,” giving viewers get a taste of his soft vocals repeating, “He’s done miracles on me.”

The teased song has fans speculating that this album might cover similar religious topics as his previous albums, while blending his own personal life.

Despite Richardson’s suspension from participating in the Tokyo Olympics for testing positive for marijuana, she is staying strong. The sprinter took to Instagram sharing West’s new video with an inspirational message. 

“There will be ups and downs in life but it’s important to remember to RUN YOUR OWN RACE,” she said. “Love to @beatsbydre and @kanyewest for the support.”

To prepare for his album, West is hosting a “DONDA” listening party Thursday night in Atlanta at Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Additionally, the event will be live-streamed via Apple Music at 8 p.m. ET.
