13 Apr Kid Cudi Pays Fashion Tribute to Kurt Cobain on SNL
Rapper and singer Kid Cudi was the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend. During his performance, the rapper paid tribute to Kurt Cobain during in attempt to spread suicide awareness.
All eyes were on Cudi as he rocked a dress in homage to the late musician’s iconic dress-wearing moment.
The Dress
The 37-year-old artist, whose legal name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, tweeted and confirmed that the dress he wore during his SNL performance was a tribute to the ’90s icon.
Cudi stated that the label Off White made the piece with Cobain in mind during the design process.
“Virgil designed the dress for me. I told him I wanted to show love to Kurt with a floral print sundress and this man made a masterpiece. Thank you @virgilabloh ur a f****** genius!! Love you man we did it!!!” Kudi tweeted.
Kudi paid tribute to Cobain during the same week as the anniversary of his death. Cobain was the iconic singer and songwriter for Nirvana, and died by suicide on April 5, 1994.
Inspiration
Kudi’s dress is inspired by the sundress Cobain wore on the 1993 cover of “The Face” magazine. Kudi also wore a fuzzy green cardigan, similar to the cardigan Cobain wore during the 1993 “MTV Unplugged” show.
The rapper performed “Tequila Shots” while wearing the green cardigan. He then performed “Sad People,” while getting in his “Come As You Are“ spirit, and wearing the floral custom made dress.
Fans of both Kudi and Cobain are feeling the love and remembering the ’90s legend this week.

Cudi has openly talked about his love for Cobain and the influence Nirvana’s music had on him. The rapper is such a super fan he even got a tattoo of Cobain!
Cudi is currently promoting his seventh studio album, “Man On The Moon III: The Chosen.” This is the third of his “Man On The Moon” album series.
