21 Apr Lizzo Shares Fully Unedited Photo on Instagram for Body Positivity
Lizzo is feeling “Good As Hell.” The Grammy winning artist showed off her natural body in a completely unedited and unfiltered photo of herself in a bathing suit on Instagram. This was to showcase body positivity to the star’s millions of followers.
Not only did she post the inspiring photo, but she captioned it with an important message about body positivity.
“WELCOME TO TAURUS SEASON. To celebrate I wanna give y’all this unedited selfie.. now normally I would fix my belly and smooth my skin but baby I wanted show u how I do it au natural,” the artist said.
Body Positive Partnership
In the photo, Lizzo left the clothes behind and used a white mug as an accessory. She also included that she is partnering with Dove for their Dove Self-Esteem Project.
“I am excited to be partnering with @dove and the #DoveSelfEsteemProject which is helping to reverse the negative effects of social media and changing the conversation about beauty standards. Lets get real y’all 🙆🏾,” she said.
“I love how this generation is so creative in the ways in which they express themselves. It’s really inspiring to see how people are taking their identity and their beauty into their own hands,” Lizzo told E! News.
The singer went on to address how more people are insecure now than ever due to social media. She blames this in part to the “increasing pressure” to edit and alter photos.
She believes this reinforces “the idea that our beauty in real life is not good enough or worthy of likes.”
Talk It Out
Although the conversation around body positivity is happening, it’s not happening enough! Lizzo hopes this project will open up more discussions about self-esteem and the unrealistic body standards women are held to.
“That’s why the Dove Self-Esteem Project and I want you to have The Selfie Talk with a young person in your life,” she explained. “It’s happening to young people everywhere, so let’s talk about it,”

After posting her photo, the singer received tons of praise and love from fans everywhere.
Friend and fellow artist, SZA, commented on the post supporting Lizzo for being candid.
“It’s you having no blemishes at ALL lol .. sigh I jus admire u Fren 😢 wanna drop the FaceTime pics,” she commented.
Lizzo is always speaking out and standing up for body positivity in the media. After growing up and struggling with her self-image, the singer is one of the biggest advocates and fighters for inclusivity.
