25 Mar Miley Cyrus Writes 15th Anniversary Letter to ‘Hannah Montana’
It’s been 15 years since the debut of the iconic Disney show, “Hannah Montana.” Miley Cyrus shared her feelings about the anniversary with a two-page thank you letter to her alter-ego and memorable character.
“Hi Hannah, It’s been a while. 15 years to be exact. Since the first time I slid those blonde bangs over my forehead in the best attempt to conceal my identity. Then slipped into a puke pink terrycloth robe with a bedazzled HM over the <3,” Cyrus wrote. “I didn’t know then…that is where you would live forever. Not just in mine but millions of people around the world. Although you are considered to be an “alter ego,” in reality there was a time in my life when you held more of my identity in your glovette than I did in my bare hands.”
She explains that the show was “her home” and she felt bittersweet when leaving it behind.
Cyrus also celebrated this anniversary by sending out Hannah-themed gifts, and letters “written by Hannah.”
In the letter, Cyrus reflects on major moments that happened during filming the show.
She recalls the heartbreak she experienced with the loss of her grandfather during the Season 1 of the show. Cyrus candidly remembers the embarrassment when staining her white pants with her period.
The singer also experienced falling in love for the first time and made so many friends, including Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso and Jason Earles.
“Hannah, I hope you hear me + believe those words are true. You have all my love and upmost gratitude,” Cyrus continued. “Breathing life into you for those 6 years was an honor. I am indebted not only to you Hannah but to any and everyone who believed in me from the beginning. You all have my loyalty + deepest appreciation til the end. With all sincerity I say THANK YOU!”
“Hannah Montana” ran for four seasons, following Miley Stewart a quirky middle-schooler who had a double life as a pop sensation, Hannah Montana. Both the show and the character became very popular and launched Cyrus to stardom.
In 2011, the iconic show ended with Stewart accepting an offer from Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise to film a movie in Hollywood. Now 15 years later, Cyrus writes and reflects on Hannah Montana and the memories she created.
As if our hearts weren’t hurting enough, Hannah Montana replied to Cyrus’s letter with a tweet.
It’s safe to say that Hannah had an amazing impact on girls growing up, including Cyrus herself. These 15 years sure went by fast!
