New Music Friday- Holiday Music Edition!

‘Tis the season for new holiday music! Christmas music starts the day after Thanksgiving in my world, so I was so excited to hear some new holiday music this year.

I thought there might be a few new songs and albums, but I could hardly choose which songs to write about. There were so many great ones!

This is a list of my favorites, but it definitely doesn’t include every new holiday song put out this year. However, there is a New Music Holiday playlist on Spotify that you can check out if you need more holiday music ASAP!

Sabrina Claudio ‘Christmas Blues’

Sabrina Claudio has released her first holiday album. Her sultry voice brings out a whole new side to holiday music. The song “Warm December” is accompanied by a very sensual video in which Claudio is dressed up and dancing on stage like a burlesque dancer with a Christmas twist. The Weeknd and Alicia Keys make guest appearances on the album.

Claudio has said “My intention behind creating and indulging into a Christmas album was to attempt to shine a small light through an incredibly dark year for as many people as I can reach,” about her decision to record “Christmas Blues.”

The album includes five original songs, and five covers of holiday classics. Even if you don’t like “Christmas music,” I recommend giving this album a listen!

Dolly Parton ‘A Holly Dolly Christmas’

Country star, Dolly Parton says that Christmas is her favorite time of year. This year, she released her new, record-breaking holiday album “A Holly Dolly Christmas.”

Dolly Parton will be singing some of the songs off of her new album on Sunday, December 6th, only on CBS and streaming on CBS All Access.

3OH!3 ‘Kissletoe’

One of the most surprising releases of this holiday season was pop duo 3OH!3‘s “Kissletoe.” Earlier this year, they put out music for the first time in four years.

“Kissletoe” was released on November 27th of this year with an accompanying claymation music video. 3OH!3 shared on social media, “We wrote a holiday song called ‘Kissletoe’ that will be out on all streaming platforms.”

This song actually isn’t a long way from “tell your boyfriend if he says he’s got beef, that imma  vegetarian, and I ain’t f****ing scared of him.” It is about reconnecting with someone from your past who says that they don’t kiss under the mistletoe, but it is the “f****ing holiday season.” If you loved pop-punk in the 8th grade, this holiday song is perfect for you.

Liam Payne & Dixie D’Amelio ‘Naughty List’

Former One Directioner released a holiday song titled “Naughty List.” The song features on of  TikTok’s hottest stars, Dixie D’Amelio.

The song describes Payne’s intentions to “take it slow” while “underneath the mistletoe.”

Liam sings, “Now we’re on the naughty list/ Must have been the way we kissed/ Santa saw the things we did/ And put us on the naughty list,” in the naughty new hit.

This song makes me feel like I wouldn’t mind being put onto Santa’s naughty list.

Qveen Herby ‘Silver Bells’

Have you ever heard of  Qveen Herby? She is quite popular on TikTok, where she sits in front of a microphone, and sings about sugar daddies and being fabulous.

Well, if you haven’t heard of Qveen Herby, you may just not have known it. She used to sing for the pop duo Karmin, who’s most popular song is”Brokenhearted.” The one that goes, “I’ve been waiting all day for you to call me baby, so let’s get up let’s get on it, don’t you leave me broken hearted.”

She has branched out on her solo career over the past few years. Qveen Herby just released this new, sassy version of Silver Bells that you are sure to love!

Tori Kelly ‘A Tori Kelly Christmas’

Tori Kelly lends her R&B/pop voice to her very first Christmas album, “A Tori Kelly Christmas.” It is the singer-songwriter’s  fourth studio album. The album was produced by Kelly, Babyface, and Scooter Braun.

Dan + Shay New Holiday Songs

Country duo Dan + Shay have joined other artists in releasing holiday music this year. They have put out two tracks titled, “Christmas Isn’t Christmas ” and “Take Me Home For Christmas.”

Both songs talk about being in love during the Christmas season.

More Holiday Cheer!

In addition to these new holiday releases, PJ Morton, JoJo, Carrie Underwood, Meghan Trainor, Tinashe, and even JoJo Siwa also released holiday albums. Sam Smith also put out their first Christmas song titled “Lighthouse Keeper.”
