My favorite day of the week is here, Friday meaning new music releases! It never ceases to amaze me how much content there is for each New Music Friday.
This week we have releases from artists like Demi Lovato, Lil Nas X, Justin Bieber, and more!
Not only is Lil Nas X’s new song a bop, it is also a huge step in a positive direction for gay culture.
In his music video, the rapper is just an openly gay music superstar indulging in a sex-and-drugs-and-sin video fantasy. Lil Nas X is unabashedly queer, hopefully bringing a sense of acceptance for other members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
After finally being allowed to record her older albums, Taylor Swift is beginning to put out her version of “Fearless.”
This week, she released “You All Over Me (Taylor’s Version)(From the Vault).” This song had never been officially released. It features country singer, Maren Morris.
Like all of Taylor’s music, the lyrics really cut deep. “The best and worst day of June was the one when I met you.” Girl, let me breathe for one second!!
Taylor Swift really makes you wonder, “how can someone release 4 albums in 1.5 years and make them all legendary?” She wasn’t joking when she sang, ” I come back stronger than a 90’s trend. “
Last week, Justin Bieber released his newest album, “Justice” which featured many other artists.
This week, the “Holy” singer has now dropped a deluxe version of the album, which includes some extra songs.
“In creating this album, my goal is to make music that will provide comfort,” said the singer on Instagram. “To make songs that people can relate to and connect to so they feel less alone.”
One of the new tracks that is a must listen is “Lifetime.”
Demi Lovato has released her new song “Dancing With the Devil.”
The song is just as open and vulnerable as her past songs have been. They lyrics discuss her battle with drug addiction.
“It’s just a little white line, I’ll be fine/But soon that little white line is a little glass pipe/Tinfoil remedy, almost got the best of me/I keep prayin’ I don’t reach the end of my lifetime.”
Lovato wrote with Bianca Deiandra Atterberry, John Ho, and Mitchell Allan Scherr.
This song is named after the singers YouTube documentary, which discusses Lovato’s near fatal overdose in 2018 and her recovery.
Collaborating with some huge artists, Australian rapper The Kid LAROI, has been making moves in the music industry.
This week, heh shared a piano-led cover of Drake‘s track “Shot For Me”, taken from his 2011 album “Take Care”.
This song is very nostalgic for Drake fans, but Laroi did the song justice.
Recorded for Spotify Singles, LAROI puts his own twist on the song by stripping away the percussive elements and laying on the vocal production. It currently can only be streamed on Spotify.
It seems like Benny Blanco has truly collaborated with everyone. He is a genius producer, and that just can’t be denied. Working with Gracie Abrams on their new song “Unlearn” created a masterpiece.
The song is perfect for when you are trying to move on.
The two performed “Unlearn” on “The Late Late Show.”Appearing from Blanco’s studio, the pair showcased the intimate, emotional song on keyboard and dueting vocals.
“Unlearn” appears on Blanco’s new album “Friends Keep Secrets 2”, which drops March 26.
The path 24kGoldn has taken to enter the rap game has been lined by chart-topping hits. With his debut album, “El Dorado,” the rapper hopes to continue with that success.
Enlisting the talents of rap stars like Future, DaBaby, and Swae Lee, “El Dorado” proves that 24kGoldn is up to par with the rest of them.
Coming off the success of his 3x Platinum-certified hit single “Mood” featuring Iann Dior, 24kGoldn is here to prove that he’s not a one-hit-wonder.
Princess Nokia (a.k.a. Destiny Frasqueri) is the singer of the popular “I Like Him” song that trended on TikTok.
Nokia has followed up with her music video “It’s Not My Fault”, which dropped today.
Instead of creating a new world, “It’s Not My Fault” pays homage to Jennifer Lopez’s 1999 hit “If You Had My Love”.
JLo’s 1999 music videoJLo danced around in a leather bikini top and cargo pants. In Nokia’s interpretation, the rapper does the same but with some 2021 tech updates and tweaks.
“I’m a big Jennifer Lopez fan and I often talk about how that video means to me,” Nokia has said.
The song is a girls anthem that I highly recommend adding to your Bad B*tch playlist!
