18 Oct New Music Releases From Your Favorite Artists!
We are back with some New Music Friday song /album releases! If you need something new to listen to, check out these new music releases.
Justin Bieber and Producer Benny Blanco “Lonely”
On this surprise new track, Justin Bieber opened up about what it was like to grow up in the spotlight. Justin says that he felt lonely because he was criticized while he was in the limelight, but also acknowledges that this is a price of fame. The song was released alongside a music video starring Jacob Tremblay as a young Justin Bieber. Tremblay, a Canadian actor who is known for his role in the movies Room and Good Boys, is a perfect young JB. His performance is very moving even though there are no words. He plays Justin during the iconic purple zip-up hoodie and side swept hair (a look that I was very into at age 15) era.
Everybody knows my past now
Like my house was always made of glass
And maybe that’s the price you pay
For the money and fame at an early age
And everybody saw me sick
And it felt like no one gave a shit
They criticized the things I did as an idiot kid
Demi Lovato “Commander in Chief”
This week, Demi dropped a scathing song written to the president, which she performed at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. The singer says that she wrote “Commander in Chief” because she wants to use her voice for good, and she did not hold back with her criticisms of how Trump is running the country.
Commander in Chief, honestly
If I did the things you do
I couldn’t sleep, seriously
Do you even know the truth?
We’re in a state of crisis, people are dyin’
While you line your pockets deep
Commander in Chief, how does it feel to still
Be able to breathe?
Lana Del Rey “Let Me Love You Like a Woman”
“Let Me Love You Like a Woman” is the first song from Lana’s upcoming album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club. The song gives me high hopes for her album. It is a simple song where she talks about wanting to leave LA in her hushed whispered tone. Jack Antonoff, who simply does not miss, accompanies her on the song. I have decided to selectively un-cancel Lana Del Rey. She was once one of my faves. She made me feel as though I could have any sugar daddy fund my lavish lifestyle. Summertime Sadness – duh. Lana’s last album, Norman Fu**ing Rockwell, is an entire masterpiece. This song is another one of her pieces of art, and I cannot wait for her Chemtrails Over the Country Club.
Nightly’s Debut Album night, love you.
The alternative pop band, Nightly, has released the album night, love you. They are best known for their 2016 song “XO,” and the 2019 song, “Twentysomething.” The band’s songs have a fun, romantic feel that are perfect for a long car ride. “You should probably just hang up,” the first single off of the album, left fans waiting for this release. Every song on this debut album is a hit. Some of my favorite songs include “ time online” and “mess in my head.”
James Blake Before EP
James Blake is a British singer/songwriter and DJ. He made a name for himself in the world of dubstep and EDM. However, he also has an insanely beautiful singing voice. Blake said that for this EP, he is finally comfortable enough to combine his dance music with his own melancholy vocals. The EP’s title track was released just days ago as its first single, and I am obsessed!
Ty Dolla $ign, Jhene Aiko & Mustard “By Yourself”
“By Yourself” is Ty Dolla $ign’s first single off of his upcoming album Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, out on October 23rd. The song features lyrics like “You don’t need a man, you do it by yourself.” He stated that the song needed a strong female vocal, so he enlisted singer Jhene Aiko.
Ariana Grande Teases New Album
Ariana Grande tweeted “I can’t wait to give u my album this month“ and the internet is not okay. Someone even tweeted that 2020 can be saved by this album (a huge deal knowing what this year has been like). The singer has a huge fanbase, Arianators, and her last album, thank u, next debuted at the top of the Billboard Charts. Her 6th studio album will definitely not disappoint.
In conclusion, you should be set for the weekend with these newest releases. Not enough new music? Be sure to check out our last New Music Friday releases. Let us know in the comments which new release you are most excited for!
