Olivia Rodrigo Goes to the White House to Encourage Vaccincations

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo visited the White House on Wednesday to meet with President Joe Biden and Dr. Fauci to help encourage young people to get vaccinated.

The purpose of her visit was to explain the importance of the vaccine, in hopes of inspiring her age group to get vaccinated, as rates are low among younger people. Since the “Good 4 U” singer is the reigning Gen Z queen, it is no surpirse she was chosen to inspire her demographic.

The 18-year-old spoke at the White House podium, as well as recorded videos for social media.

In a press conference, Rodrigo spoke at the podium addressing her reason for being there.

“I am beyond  honored humbled to be here today to help spread the message about the importance of youth vaccination,” she said. “I’m in awe of the work President Biden and Dr. Fauci have done and was happy to help lend my support to this important initiative.” 

Rodrigo also talked about how important vaccines are to the community as a whole.

“It’s important to have conversations with friends and family members encouraging all communities to get vaccinated, and actually get to a vaccination site, which you can do more easily than ever before, given how many sites we have and how easy it is to find them at vaccines.gov.”

The Videos   

Besides her press conference, the White House released a video of the singer to Twitter, in which she talked about her initiative of encourage vaccines.

“Olivia Rodrigo is at the White House today to meet with President Biden and Dr. Fauci and discuss the importance of young Americans getting vaccinated,” the White House tweeted. 

In the video, the singer gave another rundown about why she’s paying the President a visit.

“Hey, I’m Olivia Rodrigo and today I’m at the White House meeting with President Biden and Dr. Fauci, because it’s so important that we all get vaccinated,” she said.

Rodrigo reminded viewers  that even though young people might not be as affected by the virus, it’s still important that everyone does their part. 

“It doesn’t matter if you’re young and healthy, getting the vaccine is about protecting yourself, your friends, and your family,” she continued. “Let’s get vaccinated!”

Rodrigo later posted a selfie with President Biden to her social media accounts. 

“had the honor of speaking with @POTUS today about the importance of young people getting vaccinated,” read the caption. “check out vaccines.gov to learn more about vaccines and to find a vaccination center near you! it’s easy, free, and so important!!”
