With the rise of plant-based, fast food chains are catching up and releasing their own take on plant-based foods. The days of having to bring your own food or check the menu beforehand are over! 

From Burger King to Starbucks, plant-based food is taking over! Whether you’re looking for a burger or a breakfast sandwich, fast food chains are ready to cater to the vegetarian and vegan communities!

Impossible Whopper

Burger King’s Impossible Whopper is the plant-based version of their famous Whopper sandwich. The burger patty in the Impossible Whopper is made out of Impossible meat, a vegan meat substitute. The Impossible Burger is a fan favorite of non-meat eaters!

Beyond Sausage Sandwich 

The Beyond Sausage Sandwich at Dunkin is a great meat-free alternative to fast food breakfast sandwiches. The sausage patty is made with Beyond Meat, a meat substitute. The sandwich includes egg, cheese, and Beyond sausage on an English muffin.

Taco Bell Potatoes

Finally, The potatoes have returned to the Taco Bell menu! After the removal of their fan-favorite potatoes, controversy sparked and demanded they be brought back to the menu. The vegetarian favorites, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes and the Spicy Potato Soft Tacos are back and better than ever!

In early 2021, McDonald’s tested out their new plant-based sandwich, the McPlant. In select locations in Sweden and Denmark, the meat-free McPlant Burger was available to order. The patty is made from pea and rice proteins and was co-developed with Beyond Meat. 

Beyond Meat has partnered with KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and McDonalds to create more plant-based meat options at the fast food chains. This partnership will result in “craveable and innovative” new menu choices, Beyond Meat said.

Additionally, Starbucks has joined the list of fast food restaurants joining the vegetarian train. The Baja Black Bean Veggie Wrap at Starbucks has seasoned black beans, salsa slaw and mixed veggies with a spinach tortilla wrap and jalapeno cream-cheese spread. Starbucks also recently came out with oat milk and their Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Espresso.

Lastly, Del Taco is killing the plant-based game. They have plenty of options, centered around Beyond Meat. They offer, Beyond Taco, Beyond Avocado Taco, Epic Beyond Original Mex Burrito and the Beyond 8 Layer Burrito. With plenty of vegetarian burrito options, Del Taco is the spot to go!

With plant-based becoming more popular and recognized, fast food restaurants and catching up and catering to a new audience. Beyond Meat’s partnership is only the beginning! Eating out for vegetarians and vegans just got so much easier!
