Regé-Jean Page Will Not be Returning to ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2

Attention “Bridgerton” fans: Heartthrob Regé-Jean Page is leaving the show.

It was announced that the actor will not be resuming the role of Duke of Hastings in the upcoming season of this hit show.

Netflix delivered this news, quite fittingly, through an announcement from none other than Lady Whistledown.

“Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” read the announcement.

The message explained that  although we will no longer see the dashing Duke on-screen, he will continue to be a significant part of the show and the Bridgerton family.

By the Books

While this may come as a shock to most, those who have read the books by Julia Quinn, are taken less by surprise. This is because each book in the collection focuses on a specific member of the Bridgerton clan. The first book, titled “The Duke and I,” covers the Duke of Hasting’s love affair with Daphne Bridgerton.

Page admitted that the single season commitment is what drew him to the role.

“I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit and then the Bridgerton family rolls on,” he said. “I have nothing but excitement for “Bridgerton” continuing to steam-train off and conquer the globe.”

Moving Forward

Raking in a massive 82 million viewers in its first month alone, “Bridgerton” became the most watched show on Netflix.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure and privilege to be your Duke,” wrote Page on Instagram.

The actor gave a shout out to the cast, crew and fans in his post.

“It’s all been beyond anything I could have imagined,” he continued. “The love is real and will just keep growing.”

The second season of the show will focus on Anthony Bridgerton and his journey that is his love life.
