“Riverdale” Cast Members Accused of Sexual Assault

In the past couple of weeks, social media has been filled with sexual assault accusations against well-known celebrities. First, actor Ansel Elgort was accused for sexual assault by a girl named Gabby on twitter, which he later denied claiming he had a “legal and consensual” relationship with her when she was 17. Then, in another Twitter post, a woman who went by the name Danielle, accused Justin Bieber for sexually assaulting her in 2014, back when he was dating ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez. He too, denied the claims saying the story is “factually impossible” and backed it up with evidence as well as receipts.

The allegations, however, did not stop there. The latest claims of sexual assault have been made against four members of the Riverdale cast—Cole Sprouse, Vanessa Morgan, Lili Reinhart, and KJ Apa. The accusations posted anonymously on Twitter were immediately denied and condemned by the cast. Fellow co-stars and fans also came to their defense to support them. Here are the tweets posted by similar accounts that accused the stars of sexual harassment and misconduct:

Later, the “Tasha93948576” account that claimed Lili Reinhart sexually harassed her, tweeted about “how easy it is to lie.”

Other Twitter users were also skeptical about the tweets, since the Twitter handles were oddly similar and newly created. The accusations from each account were also similar in context and anonymous, leading everyone to believe that they were false. The Riverdale cast then considered taking legal action. Here’s what Lily Reinhart and Cole Sprouse had to say about it:

The false accusations were criticized by many, as it discredits and discourages real survivors to speak out about their experiences with sexual assault. That was a very dangerous and twisted game to play.
