22 Mar Saweetie Confirms Split from Quavo After Cheating Allegations
Saweetie and Quavo have officially called it quits.
On Friday, the “Icy Grl” rapper confirmed she’s single after two years in a relationship with the Migos member.
Saweetie’s Social Media Post
Saweetie, born Diamonté Harper, announced her relationship status on Twitter after break speculations that she and Quavo broke up for good. She subtlety revealed the reasons behind the split.
“I’m single,” the rapper tweeted. “I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative that degrades my character.”
The 27-year-old hinted that Quavo cheated on her and purchased gifts for reconciliation. Quavo recently bought Saweetie a car for Christmas and celebrated Valentine’s Day with her in February.
“Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women,” Saweetie wrote.
Despite the couple dating for two years, Saweetie discussed her closure with the relationship in one final post on Twitter.
“I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom,” she tweeted. “Excited for this new chapter of freedom.”
After Saweetie announced her split to the world, Quavo directly responded to the rapper on Twitter with disappointment.
“I had love for you and disappointed you did all that,” Quavo wrote, with a hand-praying emoji at the end. “I wish you nothing but the best.”
It didn’t take Saweetie long to respond, quoting his tweet with the caption, “Take care.”
Many fans speculated that Saweetie and Quavo broke up after a post on The Shade Room confirmed that the former couple unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Hours before the rumors, Saweetie’s interview with Leah Henry of “The Lemonade Stand” raised questions after the rapper dodged questions about her relationship with Quavo, 29.
After Henry mentioned that Quavo “loves her,” Saweetie only responded with “Mm-hmm.”
Saweetie also recently appeared on “Respectfully Justin,” hosted by Justin Combs, who is the “Tap In” rapper’s ex-boyfriend.
The interview caused fans to react, considering it “awkward” after questions regarding relationships and threesomes. The interview with Combs also sparked theories, claiming it caused Saweetie and Quavo’s split.
After confirming her split with Quavo, the singer expressed excitement for her forthcoming collaboration with singer Demi Lovato on her upcoming album “Dancing With The Devil: The Art of Starting Over” on Apr. 2.
“Icy x demi,” she wrote with the hashtag “#MyGirlfriendsAreMyBoyfriends,” several emojis, and a snippet of the song posted by Lovato herself.
The artist also released her latest single “Best Friend” with rapper Doja Cat earlier this year, and “Back to the Streets” with R&B singer Jhené Aiko.
The rapper has made it clear that she is moving froward, and ready for what’s next in life.
