Songs to Motivate You During Midterm Week | Scoop Sorority

Midterm week is underway for many college students this month.

Although your semester may be remote this time around, the anxiety for midterms is prominent. If you’re not a great test taker, bad at memorizing, or just completely over the semester, the thought of an exam can be quite stressful.

However, there’s one thing that can keep you in an optimistic mood throughout your midterm week: music.

Whether you need a motivational boost or a hard-hitting rap song to replace your caffeine, we curated a set of songs for you to listen to for inspiration.

“Hard” by Rihanna feat. Jeezy

Walk (or log in) to your midterm exam like a boss with this aggressive rock-rap song from Rihanna. While it may not be the go-to study session song,  “Hard” brings an edgy confidence and can help you get through test-related stress and anxiety.

“Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor

Get your adrenaline pumping with a 1980s motivational anthem. If you exercise or take a jog around your neighborhood before your exam, turn this song up to full volume.

“Lose Yourself” by Eminem

Grab a plate of your mom’s spaghetti and rock out to this motivational classic by Eminem. When you’re taking a midterm, or any exam, you should keep your focus. You definitely get one shot to take the exam and get the best grade you can. So, make sure you go in with a good mindset.

“Not the End of the World” by Katy Perry

The title speaks for itself. Know that when you’re taking an exam, no matter the result, it’s simply not the end of the world. We often fall into a lack of confidence and extreme anxiety when a midterm or a final comes up because it can possibly make or break our grade.

With Katy Perry’s latest anthem on not losing hope, keep this song in mind before, during, and after a midterm.

“Good Days” by SZA

If you enjoy listening to peaceful, serene music to motivate you for a tough exam week, SZA’s latest song “Good Days” will have you hoping for a good day and good luck. There’s a lot of things on your mind. “Will I pass the exam? Will I understand the material? And will I even finish on time?”

Empty all of your anxious thoughts with this song alone.

“Fighter” by Christina Aguilera

End your midterm knowing that you gave your all. With this 2003 hit from Christina Aguilera, walk out of your proctored exam, or Zoom call, stronger and wiser. Also, keep this song in mind when final exams come around during the last few weeks in the semester.

Good luck on your midterms, students!
