15 Nov The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards Recap!
The E! People’s Choice Awards aired tonight, giving fans of music, movies, tv shows, fashion and even social media the chance to award their favorite celebrities! The E! People’s Choice Awards is the only award show that places the power directly into the fan’s hands. At tonight’s show the PCA’s honored the fans of these incredible stars in more ways than one, making for an unforgettable event!
The Hostess with the Mostess
Demi Lovato hosted the award show and was nothing short of fantastic! Lovato gave a super relatable and funny opening monologue, where she reflected on her totally normal quarantine activities. Demi candidly mentioned getting engaged, binge watching shows, picking up painting and even getting un-engaged too in true 2020 fashion! The star was accompanied by an amazing audience of super fans tuning in via video chat!
A Night Not Only for the Stars But the Fans Too
The E! People’s Choice Awards not only brought the audience to the show for viewing purposes via video chat, but let the virtual audience participate in all the fun! Selected audience members got to announce the award winners from their very own home! Incorporating the “people” didn’t stop there, as the show honored various E! People’s Heroes! These seemingly ordinary citizens were honored for making a difference in their community during these unprecedented times!
Notable Award Winners
Tonight multiple high profile visionaries were awarded E! People’s Choice Awards! Let’s take a look at some of the awards given on this very special evening!
The first award of the night, The Female Movie Star of 2020, was given to actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish for her role in “Like a Boss!”
Blake Shelton took home the win for The Country Artist of 2020. Shelton was sure to thank his fans and made a super special emphasis on thanking his new fiancé, Gwen Stefani. Leaving with a PCA award and Gwen as your fiancé makes for total bragging rights!
Tyler The Creator honored the legendary Tracee Ellis Ross with the award of The Fashion Icon of 2020! Ross paid tribute to her mother, Diana Ross, in her acceptance speech. Tracee credited Diana in part for her love of fashion and incredible sense of style.
Jennifer Lopez was awarded The People’s Icon of 2020 award. Lopez was recognized for her trailblazing accomplishments in every category from music, to dance, to acting and even in the fashion and beauty industry! As said by E! themselves as they presented this triple threat icon with her award, “ever original, always evolving and the truly unstoppable, Jennifer Lopez.”
Tiffany Haddish presented Tyler Perry The People’s Champion of 2020 award! Haddish gave exceptional praise to Perry as she reflected on how they both persevered from struggle. Perry was also praised for his amazing work in the community, his incalculable contributions to the industry and his noble character as the owner of Tyler Perry Studios. Tyler Perry kept his entire staff on payroll during these unprecedented times. Perry also made advancements in his studio to keep his cast and crew working under safe conditions during the pandemic. Though this only gives a taste to the incredible character of Tyler Perry, it is clear that this award is so well deserved!
Incredible Performances
The first performance of the night was by the legendary Justin Bieber! Justin Bieber performed his new hit “Lonely” In an intimate and almost eerie setting. The singer performed in front of the backdrop of a barren and smokey bus stop. His performance was nothing short of barren though, as he impressed fans with his incredible vocals and talent. After this performance he entered the stage for his next song “Holy!” This performance was very entertaining to watch, with beautiful lighting elements and a socially distanced series of backup singers and band members.
The second and last performance of the night was by the R&B duo Chloe x Halle! The two are real life sisters who gave an amazing performance of their song “Ungodly Hour!” Both Chloe and Halle rocked the stage in matching silver sequin power suits. This dynamic duo of female power lit up the night with their glittering outfits and shining vocals.
This year’s show was an incredible event that honored not only the hottest names in Hollywood, but the fans who sing their praises as well!
