Six Upcoming Albums to Get Excited For in 2021

Upcoming albums are always something to get excited for. This is a year filled with Grammy award-winning potential! So far, we’ve already come across great album releases from Lana Del Rey, Zayn, Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber.

But, there’s more! From rapper Drake to Olivia Rodrigo, there are many upcoming albums we’re excited for this year. Here are six albums to keep a lookout for!

Drake- “Certified Lover Boy”

In late 2020, Canadian rapper Drake released a teaser to his follow-up to “Scorpion.” After releasing “Laugh Now Cry Later” with Lil Durk, and a commercial mixtape in 2020, Drake’s sixth album is one of the most anticipated albums of the year.

After postponing the album in January, the rapper released an EP, “Scary Hours 2” to continue the excitement for his upcoming project.

Olivia Rodrigo- “Sour”

You’ll need more than a driver’s license to prepare for Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album. The Disney+ star is having a great year so far, with the success of her debut single.

After releasing her sophomore single “Deja Vu,” Rodrigo announced her first album “Sour” will drop on May 21.

Doja Cat- “Planet Her”

Doja Cat finally put the “Say So” trends to rest, and is entering a new era with her upcoming album, “Planet Her.”

Her new single, “Kiss Me More” with SZA, has set the vibes for what her album will be like. Although there isn’t an official release date, she’s hinted at many collaborations and it’s expected to drop during the summer.

Billie Eilish- “Happier Than Ever”

Billie Eilish is returning with a new look and a new album on July 30. Eilish released the album cover to her album “Happier Than Ever,” with a blonde-haired portrait of the singer.

The follow-up to her debut album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” will include 16 tracks, with lead singles “My Future,” and “Therefore I Am.”

Lil Nas X- “Montero”

Although Lil Nas X became the face of controversy after releasing his first single, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” the hype for his album is still here!  While the song received praise, its accompanying music video divided audiences.  His debut album, “Montero,” is named after the rappers real first name.

If his single proved anything, with this album, we’ll likely see more of Lil Nas X as a hitmaker and not a one-hit wonder.

Twenty One Pilots- “Scaled and Icy”

Musical duo Twenty One Pilots is back after releasing their 2018 album “Trench.” The pair released a standalone single “Level of Concern” in 2020, and later announced their sixth project with an all-new aesthetic.

The 11-track album is set to be released on May 21.

Which of these upcoming albums are you most excited for?
